Description
PT-141 (Bremelanotide)
PT-141, also known as Bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide analog of α-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (α-MSH). Unlike PDE5 inhibitors (such as Viagra or Cialis) that primarily work through vascular mechanisms, PT-141 acts as a melanocortin receptor agonist, directly stimulating the central nervous system to enhance sexual arousal and desire.
Research Properties:
- Libido Enhancement: Studied for its ability to significantly increase sexual desire and arousal in both men and women.
- Erectile Dysfunction: Researched for its potential to improve erectile function via central neural pathways.
- Female Sexual Dysfunction: Investigated for its effects on hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).
- Melanocortin Pathway: Selectively activates melanocortin receptors (primarily MC4R) in the brain associated with sexual motivation.
Administration in Research:
- Subcutaneous (SQ) injection (most common and studied route)
- Intranasal
For Research Use Only. Not for human consumption. PT-141 is intended strictly for laboratory research and in-vitro experimentation.
